Tales from the Great Jewish Mystics”

Novelist, poet, and folklore scholar Howard Schwartz will be presenting “Tales from the Great Jewish Mystics” at 7:00 p.m. on March 18, in Truman’s SUB Activities Room. Schwartz is a major figure in Jewish folklore and mythology studies, author of six novels, three books of poetry, editor of over a dozen collections of Jewish myths and folktales, parables, poems, proverbs and jokes—seven of them published by Oxford University Press—a book on Biblical interpretation, and a dozen children’s books. He teaches creative writing at University of Missouri at St. Louis. His talk is the first event in a series titled “For Words,” sponsored by the English and Linguistics Department; the Philosophy and Religion Department is co-sponsoring this even, and refreshments following his talk will be provided by Hillel.
