Charlie Love and The Silky Smooth Band

Charlie Love was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1956. His parents exposed him to the blues by playing the sounds of Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. King and Elmore James. In 1985 Charlie formed the Silky Smooth Band that performs all around the Chicagoland area. Charlie Love and His Silky Smooth Band perform regularly at the Kingston Mines, B.L.U.E.S., Koko’s, Buddy Guy’s Legends, and House of Blues.

In February 1999, Charlie Love and His Silky Smooth Band won the coveted “Best Unsigned Blues Band Competition” at Buddy Guy’s Legends.

Fronting for the Silky Smooth Blues Band, Charlie is at home performing the blues. He has developed his own style and has enhanced what he has learned from other blues greats. Some Chicago bluesman that made lasting impressions on Charlie is Buddy Scott and Lefty Dizz. Charlie incorporates the styles of Albert King, B.B. King, James Son Thomas, James Brown, Howlin Wolf, Elmore James, and many others to express the blues he feels deep within his soul.
